Dog Park Fun
53
If
you're a dog owner, you've probably heard what dog parks are-they
are simply off-leash areas where your dog can play around without a
leash. You can meet up with local dogs and dog owners. For dogs that
don't have a canine friend, this is a great way to get used to other
dogs. Dog parks are a great way for busy dog owners to get some
quality time in with their beloved pet. Just bring some fetch dog toys and have fun.
You
Must Observe Local Laws
Before you head off to the park you've seen and decide that it's
perfectly alright for your favorite Muppet to go down and run around
without a leash, you'll want to be quite certain to check out the
local laws so you and your dog don't end up forever banned from your
new, favorite local park. Some of the rules may include staying within
a certain distance of your dog (not that you were letting Muppet stray
too far out of your sight anyway) or pick up any waste your dog leaves
behind. Some requirements might even include current vaccinations and
that your dog isn't aggressive towards other animals or humans.
Safety
Considerations (Which You Should Take into Consideration)
In addition to the new rules you must observe at the local parks,
there are also some things you will need to do to ensure your pet's
safety. Your dog could be exposed to germs from other dogs, including
viruses, bacteria, and parasites. You should avoid parks with standing
water and pick up after your pet immediately to reduce these risks.
You
will also want to take steps to prevent your beloved pet from
being injured-you don't want your fun day at the park to end up with a
trip to the local vet or doggy hospital. (Or the human hospital, for
that matter.) Before you let your dog run free, it's a good idea to
walk or jog around the park with them on your leash so you can avoid
dangerous situations and aggressive dogs or animals.
Then, at the end of the day, they can go home tired and fully exercised and go to sleep on their orthopedic dog beds to sleep and relax.
